Moor St Wines was established in 2004 by Tony Nowell. Tony’s background has always been in wine [over 30 years], having previously worked at many of Melbourne’s top restaurants, some time in retail and then wholesale distribution, being responsible for the distribution of many of Australia’s leading wineries.

Philosophy

The philosophy behind Moor St Wines is very simple – and that is to work with and represent Australia’s leading premium independent wineries.

The ‘work with’ is the most important part of the philosophy, as that means working with winemakers that are owner/operators, who have a holistic approach, who make all their own wines and are always striving to make the best wine they can each and every vintage. 

Between us, we share a similar belief that great wine is made in the vineyard, and the primary role of a winemaker is actually that of a vigneron.

This ‘shared’ aspect has provided the foundation for the successful, long term relationship between the wineries and ourselves.

Winemakers

The strength of Moor St Wines lies in the relationship we have with our winemakers – many of whom have been with us since inception. It means having an intimate understanding of every vineyard from each of our producers; each wine, each vintage, and being able to successfully communicate that to our customers and industry journalists.
