A thriving social and energetic family life inspired partners Ryan Walsh & Freya Hohnen to create a wine brand that intermingles with their family.
Though they chose the name Walsh & Sons – it’s probably more accurate to say Walsh & Family. Their core wines are named after nieces and nephews who’ve all been a part of the journey.
About the Winemaker
Established in 2014, the trailblazing spirit is engrained in Walsh & Sons. Ryan’s and Freya’s families have been wine farming in Margaret River for decades. The Hohnen’s settled in Margaret River in 1972 to make wine, the Walsh’s in 1993. Add to this, Walsh family ancestors were crafting award winning wines in Melbourne in the 1860s.

Our winemaking relies on the intangible senses of inspiration, intuition and innovation. By using these we seek out a more informed expression of who we are whilst respecting the purity of our natural ingredients.
